Ivinghoe Beacon

The Beacon is the site of an Iron-Age hill-fort and commands spectacular views across the Vale of Aylesbury and into Oxfordshire. Lots of promoted walks from here. The chalk grassland here is exceptionally rich in plant and insect life and during the summer it is possible to see a wide variety of butterflies and wildflowers, including orchids....

Whipsnade White Lion

The Whipsnade White Lion can be found just over a mile south west of Whipsnade village and one mile North of Dagnall on the Dunstable Downs in south Bedfordshire. It is situated facing west on a gentle slope below Whipsnade Wildlife Park and took about 18 months to manually dig out with picks and shovels in 1933 from a design by Mr. RB Brooke-Greaves to indicate the position of the park.
