Meiji Kaigakan(Meiji Memorial Picture
Gallery) is an art museum(Seitoku-Kinen-Kaiga-Kan) in one
corner in Meiji Shrine Outer Garden. The pictures drawn on the
strict historical investigation based on a historical fact in
the brave figure and historical spectacle of the crucial
reforms of the Restoration and great men which were finished
focusing on Emperor Meiji from an end of Edo Period to Meiji
Era are exhibited. Meiji Shrine Outer Garden of the building
itself is central, and it serves as a solemn dome-like
building. The design, based on the drawing by Masatsugu
Kobayashi that was chosen as the best work from among 156
enteries from the public.
The original drawing was modified by Meiji-jingu Zoeikyoku
(building department).
